In today’s job market, a degree alone is often not enough. Companies want graduates who have real-world experience, not just theory. That is where internships become powerful.
Why internships are so important

- Alumni, seniors, teachers and family networks.
Step 3: Write a short, honest application
When you email or apply, keep your message simple and specific:
- Who you are (course, year, college).
- Which role you are interested in.
- What skills or projects you already have.
- Why you want to learn at that company.
Step 4: Make the most of your internship
Once you get an opportunity:
- Arrive on time, be professional and ask clear questions.
- Take notes, deliver work before deadlines and ask for feedback.
- Request a completion certificate and (if appropriate) a LinkedIn recommendation.
Remember: even a small or local company internship can teach you a lot and open doors later.

Some types of institutes in India are especially known for organised internship support:
- Leading engineering institutes – many IITs, NITs and reputed private colleges run structured summer internship drives.
- Top commerce & management colleges – such as well‑known colleges in Delhi University, Mumbai University, and premier B‑schools, where internships are part of the curriculum.
- Design and media institutes – regularly place students in agencies, studios and production houses for project‑based internships.
You don’t need to be in these exact institutes to benefit – but you can learn from their approach: start early, build projects, and use your network actively.
